| Ever since that terrible summer of rowing + school at the same time one of the first few things that friends would say when we met up was: "Why have you gotten thinner AGAIN?" My response would always be, "What do you mean AGAIN? I'm already eating as much as I can!!" Well, looks like my days of eating as much as I'd like to are over. Two people in two days have commented that my face looked more what like what it was back in Year 2 - fuller, chubbier, meatier. Darn!!! |

| *He'll be in my prayers. Yesterday: Quite a few people in the cinema exclaimed, "Wong Chau Seng ar!" when he first appeard. He was in a small role, and I wonder whether the accent was faked or real. As a movie I thought it was well-shot with beautiful, lush sceneries, the acting was solid and the soundtrack certainly deserved the Golden Globe it'd won. I haven't read the book so I don't know how well they've adapted it. The story itself did not have many twists or turns; one could even say it was predictable. Apparently it's a classic, so I guess there must be something more to it that a film adaptation can never express. Just like how one can never say he knows Hugo's Les Miserables if he's only seen the musical.
Refrain
Chante rossignol, chante, Toi qui as le cœur gai Tu as le cœur à rire, Moi je l'ai à pleurer
Refrain
Refrain
(English) At the clear fountain, While I was strolling by, I found the water so nice That I went in to bathe.
Chorus So long I've been loving you, I will never forget you.
Under an oak tree, I dried myself. On the highest branch, A nightingale was singing.
Chorus
Sing, nightingale, sing, Your heart is so happy. Your heart feels like laughing, Mine feels like weeping.
Chorus
I lost my beloved, Without deserving it, For a bunch of roses, That I denied her.
Chorus
I wanted the rose To be still on the bush, And my sweet beloved To be still loving me. (other version: And even the rosebush To be thrown in the sea.)
Chorus And apart from The Painted Veil, something memorable happened. |
